Summer is a wonderful time to search for a ranch in Southwest New Mexico. In addition to warm days, cooling monsoon showers in the afternoon, and cool, pleasant nights, there is so much to see and do.

There are mountains to hike or to explore on horse back; local restaurants serve delicious steaks or pies, just exploring the region can be an adventure.

If looking to buy a working cattle ranch, there are round ups, sorting and branding of livestock, moving cattle from pasture to pasture; most work done the old fashioned way on horseback. And if you haven’t had your fill of the old west, there are rodeos and team roping events almost every weekend, often followed by cookouts or dancing to a western band. And if you happen to be near Datil, be sure to visit the town of Gabriella, a replica village of the old west complete with a church, saloon, stable, and country stores. From time to time, the local reenactment theater group will put on performances, which are a lot of fun to watch.

Later in the summer, after the cooling rains, grasses are high and flowers abound, It is an absolute beautiful place to see and will give you the opportunity to make wonderful photographs.
